Vogue UK; ‘The English Woman Now’ – Adele

5 Sep Adele - Vogue UK - October Issue

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, has become an icon and role-model for men and women of all ages. It is rare that an artist is the culmination of both an inspirational voice and a contagious sense of humour.

Adele’s constant reference to her life pre-fame and her comical narration of habitual experiences is what makes her one of today’s most relatable stars. Vogue UK’s decision to honour Adele as October’s cover girl, is a fitting tribute to someone who has already, given so much to the music industry.

The cover and editorial were photographed by Sølve Sundsbø with the accompanying article orchestrated by Vogue’s Christa D’Souza. On the cover, Adele dons a custom-made Burberry lace gown.

On her pre-show ritual:

“I puke quite a lot before going on stage. Though never actually on stage. But then, I s— myself before everything … the bigger the freak-out, the more I enjoy the show!”

On the entertainment industry’s obsession with weight:

“I’ve seen people where it rules their lives, who want to be thinner or have bigger boobs, and how it wears them down. And I don’t want that in my life. I have insecurities, of course, but I don’t hang out with anyone who points them out to me.”

On being single:

“I do get massively distracted when I’ve got someone in my life, which I can’t afford to do right now. Besides, no one treats me as well as I do.”

On preferring sons over daughters:

“I’ve always got on better with boys. Most of my friends are boys. Like, if I ever have children, I want five boys. Boys love their mothers whereas girls can be so mean to each other.”

The October Issue will be available on news stands from Thursday, September 8th.

On identifying with Carrie Bradshaw:

“Bradshaw’s life is nothing — nothing — like mine,” she says. “I loved playing her, and it changed my life in lots of wonderful ways, but I’m not a crazy shoe lady, I don’t think about fashion all day long, although I have a great respect for the industry. Every choice we’ve made has been different.”

We went outside the city and troubled all these Realtors and stood in these homes and fantasized, and then I kept picturing nine o’clock at night and” — she breaks into mime, drumming her fingers on her crossed knees and staring into the middle distance. “The beautiful thing about New York is, you have to expose yourself to other people the minute you step outside the door. There is no choice. And I love that.”

Harry Potter’s Haute Muse

19 Jun

The ‘Harry Potter’ series of films, have catapulted the young protagonists into fame and fortune, whilst also offering them opportunities for stage, fashion and cinema.

Within the domain of fashion, Emma Watson has earned herself quite a prestigious reputation. Thus far, she has fronted a number of campaigns for Burberry, collaborated with The Tree People and is Vogue’s July Cover Girl.

With the release of Haute Muse‘s July editorial, it seems that Miss Watson has some strong modelling competition from her co-star, Bonnie Wright.

Wright, known to fans of the saga as Ginny Weasley, appears almost gothic / vampy in style on the glossy cover. The images were taken by Jonas Bresnan and the editorial was styled by Victoria Adcock.

This striking image will, without doubt, provide Bonnie with numerous opportunities to work within fashion and modelling.

The British starlet, at only twenty years of age, has also managed to find love in Hollywood. In April, her engagement to Twilight’ star, Jamie Campbell-Bower was officially confirmed. For her wedding gown, Bonnie Wright will have numerous designers appeasing to her every whim.

This issue of Haute Muse hits stands in the United Kingdom / Ireland on August 10th and in the United States on August 18th. In preparation for the magazine’s release, further images from Wright’s editorial have been released.
