Promotional Pictures -The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

29 Jul

As the summer sunshine blends into the cascading season of Autumn, the cinema becomes alight with promotion and anticipation for the next installment of The Twilight Saga.

Breaking Dawn – Part One will entice a more mature audience, as much of the screenplay’s theme is of a more intimate and impassioned nature. The film sequence has collated a gargantuan fan base and placed the series’ protagonists on pedestals for their aesthetic qualities.

The first promotional poster permits the audience to elicit very little meaning. The enchanting background colours signify the advancing twilight duration of the day.

After the press stop this week at Comic Con International in San Diego, further promotional images have been released. The most prominent image was a second poster for the fourth installment. It features the principal cast staring hauntingly at their audience. Each character emits an alluring glow whilst only Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) are attired in bright, pastel colours.

Breaking Dawn – Part One will reach cinemas on November 18th.

Fortunate Irish audiences will be privileged to view segments of the unreleased film at Dublin’s Movie Fest.

This festival has taken inspiration from Comic Con and will project future cinematic highlights on August 13th and 14th in Cineworld, Parnell Street. One must be in attendance at Ireland’s newest cinematic affair.

Elle Fanning for Marc Jacobs

1 Jul

Elle Fanning has been dubbed a fashion protégée by many of the industry’s elite. Throughout the previous award’s season, Fanning has exhibited pieces from designers such as Marchesa, Valentino and Marc by Marc Jacobs. Her loyalty to Jacobs’ brand has not gone unnoticed. Today, the first images were released of Elle’s campaign for Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2011.

The actress is most recognisable from her roles in ‘Pheobe in Wonderland’, ‘Somewhere’ and ‘Super 8′. At merely thirteen years of age, Elle has set, nearly an unattainable standard for Hollywood’s most promising talent.

Elle is not alone in the acting domain, award winning actress Dakota Fanning is her older sibling. It appears Marc Jacobs holds both Fanning sisters in high regard as Dakota has modelled for the brand on numerous occasions.

However, it does pose the question; which member of the Fanning family is most successful in marketing and representing the Marc Jacobs brand? Cast your vote!

Actor Vs. Model?

14 Jun

Hollywood’s current ‘It’ girl, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, was recently questioned about her transition from modelling to acting. The British beauty’s response?

“Do you think it’s fair that actors have been taking the money out of hard-working models’ pockets? Actresses have completely taken over the fashion industry in the last five years, in terms of big deals. Maybe it’s time the models got some payback.”

Just days after her thought-provoking response, an increasing number of images and statements have been released, naming actors and actresses alike as luxury brand ambassadors.

Prada Menswear Autumn / Winter 2011 Campaign

Tobey Maguire, of Spiderman fame, has surprisingly been announced as the face of Prada’s Autumn / Winter 2011 campaign. Although Maguire is a distinguished and reputable actor, his fashion credentials and interests have often been limited.

Louis Vuitton Autumn / Winter 2011 Campaign

Prada is not the only fashion house who has borrowed a persona from Hollywood. This week the first images from Louis Vuitton‘s Autumn / Winter campaign have been released. The glossy photographs were shot by Annie Leibovitz and features Angelina Jolie as the collection’s protagonist.

Marc Jacobs has long been a fan of the stars and starlets of Hollywood blockbusters. Most recently, he has named Helena Bonham Carter as the brand’s newest ambassador.

Dakota Fanning is no stranger to Jacobs’ luxury label. Today, images were released of the designer’s ‘Oh, Lola!’ campaign, in which the  ‘Twilight’ actress is one of the key elements.

The feminine images were shot by Juergen Teller and accent the fragrance’s playful and floral tones.

Finally, St. John’s announced last month that Academy Award winner Kate Winslet would assist in their brand’s advertising. Winslet appears effortlessly chic in her billboard and will be an icon for the more refined generation who seek quality, comfort and elegance in their choice of clothing.

St John Autumn Campaign 2011
Anna Wintour, Editor-in-chief of US Vogue, was first responsible for the appearance of celebrities and actors alike on gleaming magazine covers. Since then, fashion and brand advertising has helped to propel and revive numerous celebrity careers. As we climb further through this decade, will the fascination that emanates from Hollywood begin to decline or is the future of modelling at risk of fashionable extinction?

Helena Bonham Carter – The Face of Marc Jacobs

10 Jun

Helena Bonham Carter has been announced as the new face of Marc Jacobs.  The actress has acquired mixed reviews from fashion critics for her unique and often eccentric style. However in 2010, she was honoured with a place on Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List. Bonham-Carter found this award quite amusing as she is quoted saying ‘Oh, the photos they’ve chosen are as bad as the ones they print when I’m worst dressed.’

The actress has been a life long fan of Vivienne Westwood and denotes Marie Antoinette as one of her style icons.

The choice of Helena to become the brand’s representative may not be a total surprise to the fashion domain after the SAG awards. At the Screen Actors Guild awards the actress appeared refined and glamorous in her Marc Jacobs gown. (Right)

The actress is in good company at the design house with stars such as Victoria Beckham, Dakota Fanning and Daisy Lowe fronting previous Marc Jacobs campaigns.
