On identifying with Carrie Bradshaw:

“Bradshaw’s life is nothing — nothing — like mine,” she says. “I loved playing her, and it changed my life in lots of wonderful ways, but I’m not a crazy shoe lady, I don’t think about fashion all day long, although I have a great respect for the industry. Every choice we’ve made has been different.”

On being unable to leave New York City:

“You do start to understand the behind-the-gate mentality, the getting in the car in your driveway…but I can’t imagine living in seclusion. We flirted with it. We went outside the city and troubled all these Realtors and stood in these homes and fantasized, and then I kept picturing nine o’clock at night and” — she breaks into mime, drumming her fingers on her crossed knees and staring into the middle distance. “The beautiful thing about New York is, you have to expose yourself to other people the minute you step outside the door. There is no choice. And I love that.”

On her love of fashion:

“I love the opportunity to wear something really special and go to a wonderful event at some great cultural institution. Not to sound too Pollyanna about it, but I really didn’t imagine when I was a little girl that I would be there to see it all myself.”

On getting dressed for an evening out:

For the Spring Gala of American Ballet Theater, where she serves on the board, she chose a black-and-white lace Valentino because “it was his birthday, and I thought that was a nice way of acknowledging that.” At the Met last May in tribute to Alexander McQueen, she borrowed a nude beaded column from the designer’s archive. “I love the opportunity to wear something really special and go to a wonderful event at some great cultural institution….Not to sound too Pollyanna about it, but I really didn’t imagine when I was a little girl that I would be there to see it all myself.”

Harry Potter’s Haute Muse

19 Jun

The ‘Harry Potter’ series of films, have catapulted the young protagonists into fame and fortune, whilst also offering them opportunities for stage, fashion and cinema.

Within the domain of fashion, Emma Watson has earned herself quite a prestigious reputation. Thus far, she has fronted a number of campaigns for Burberry, collaborated with The Tree People and is Vogue’s July Cover Girl.

With the release of Haute Muse‘s July editorial, it seems that Miss Watson has some strong modelling competition from her co-star, Bonnie Wright.

Wright, known to fans of the saga as Ginny Weasley, appears almost gothic / vampy in style on the glossy cover. The images were taken by Jonas Bresnan and the editorial was styled by Victoria Adcock.

This striking image will, without doubt, provide Bonnie with numerous opportunities to work within fashion and modelling.

The British starlet, at only twenty years of age, has also managed to find love in Hollywood. In April, her engagement to Twilight’ star, Jamie Campbell-Bower was officially confirmed. For her wedding gown, Bonnie Wright will have numerous designers appeasing to her every whim.

This issue of Haute Muse hits stands in the United Kingdom / Ireland on August 10th and in the United States on August 18th. In preparation for the magazine’s release, further images from Wright’s editorial have been released.

Miss July by Vogue UK

1 Jun

July has been deemed as Vogue UK‘s ‘Ageless Style Issue’. In 2010, Cameron Diaz brought her effortlessly chic style to the magazine’s cover which was shot by Regan Cameron.

Twelve months later, the fashion bible’s pages and cover are alight with golden images of the French darling, Vanessa Paradis. Paradis known to many due to her famous fiancée, Johnny Depp is an extremely talented actress and songstress from Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, France.

In the fashion realm Vanessa Paradis is a favourite of Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld himself. In 2010, she was named the brand’s ambassador for Chanel Rouge Coco.

However, the love affair between Chanel and Paradis is not unrequited, as she proudly exhibits a muslin sequined and bejeweled jacket (RRP €2,720) by the French fashion house on Vogue’s cover. The Mario Testino cover shot proves that beauty refines with age. At thirty-eight, Vanessa Paradis is an icon for both the younger and more mature reader.

To quote the magazine, Paradis has a ‘timeless allure’ and her film ‘Heartbreaker‘, which co-stars Romain Duris, is one  not to be missed.
